MSU Friday FAQs

MSU Friday offers a variety of options and is structured so that you can select which sessions you would like to attend based on your area of interest. There are no assigned daily groups to ensure you get everything you want from your visit. 

Imbedded in the MSU Friday schedule are presentations from each college at MSU. These presentations will give you an overview of what the colleges have to offer through their majors, minors, and departments within the college. If you would like to speak with a departmental advisor regarding a specific program of study, you can schedule an appointment separately from MSU Friday programming. 

MSU Friday is from 9-5pm with programming options throughout the day.  You can check in at the info table in the Strand Union Building if you arrive late. There will be presentations and tours given up until the end of the program, with many of our most popular session offered multiple times throughout the day, so no need to worry if your arrival is delayed.  

Please register under the student’s name for MSU Friday. Student registrations will list the total number of individuals joining them for MSU Friday programming.   .

During MSU Friday, there are various information sessions you can attend that are not offered during regular daily campus visits. During MSU Friday, you will have the chance to hear from each of our colleges, the Office of Student Success, Financial Aid, and more. Additionally, we host sample classes, student panels, facility tours, and the opportunity to speak with current students. MSU Friday is a large-scale preview day in which attendees can select the sessions they are most interested in to ensure you get the most out of your visit. 

If you register for MSU Friday, there is no need to register for an individual visit. There are many opportunities to have one on one conversations with admissions counselors, leverage department drop-in hours, and navigate sessions offered throughout the day to maximize your visit to MSU.  

There are many things to do in Bozeman, all year long. Popular activities include skiing or snowboarding at Bridger Bowl, shopping local businesses along Main St, or grabbing food at one of our many great restaurants. You can check out more things to do while in Bozeman at our visitors webpage.  

Yes, MSU Friday is a family affair! Students often bring along their parents, grandparents, siblings, and anyone who wants to check out MSU along with them.  

MSU Friday programming is interactive, encouraging participants to engage in sessions hosted in multiple locations. We recommend a pair of good walking shoes and weather-permitting clothing. Also, check Bozeman's weather forecast before your visit to ensure you have the clothing needed for a comfortable walk around campus.  

On-campus, lunch options for purchase include Bridger Grill (1st floor of Strand Union Building(SUB)), Fire House Subs (2nd floor of SUB), snacks in the bookstore, and several Grab & Go options located in Norm Asbjornson Hall, the MSU Library, and the SUB.

MSU Friday is meant for any type of prospective MSU student. There are sessions that go over pertinent information for both admitted students and ones that have not yet applied. If you have any questions regarding the application process, our admissions counselors will be available at MSU Friday.
