Shotgun Project

Must be 4-H age 10 years old and demonstrate appropriate safety to participate. New shooters through advanced welcome. 

Limited number of shotguns to loan, youth may bring their own shotguns (12 ga & 20 ga only) and requires inspection, ear plugs are provided (may bring your own though no muff-type allowed), members are responsible to provide own eye protection however are available for purchase through program. Ammunition provided through program.

This is an 8-week program that runs from September through October, traditionally Thursdays at 4:30pm, 5:15pm, and 6:30pm (subject to change).

Request a shooting time any time after March 1st for the next year and concludes prior to the start of the project.

Space and times are limited, we try to accommodate siblings.

Archery Project

Must be 4-H age 9 years old to participate.

 

We provide basic bare bows (compound) and arrows, but you may bring your own bows and arrows. Instructors will determine what discipline you will fit into. You provide fingers and arm guards.archery

Enroll in 4-H October 1st you may request a shooting time after March 1st for the next year, shooting begins the week before Thanksgiving and continues through the end of February.

Archery shoots on Monday or Thursday at 4:30 pm, 5:15 pm, 6:00 pm, 6:45 pm, or 7:30 pm.

You may begin registering at anytime until the project is full.

Air Pistol Project

Must be 4-H age 9 years old to participate.

All equipment provided. You may purchase your own equipment if you wish, as your child’s skill level increases, but isn’t required.

Must sign up for a CMP number: https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php?do=register

The CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) number is important to have because the CMP number is used by the Orion Scoring System and the Shooting Sports uses the CMP number to keep track of the Shooting Sports members in the Orion Scoring System.

Air Rifle Project

Must be 4-H age 9 years old to participate.

All equipment provided. You may purchase your own equipment if your child shows a great interest.

Precision Rifle shoots on Thursday at 6:30 pm (must be invited by an

instructor, after shooting in advanced rifle for at least a year).

Small Bore Pistol (.22) Project

Must be 4-H age 12 years old to participate and will need to have completed Hunters Safety.

Bring your own automatic pistols (no revolvers), ammunition, ear plugs and eye protection.

Parents must be present at all times while child is shooting.22  pistol

Enroll in 4-H October 1st, request a shooting time after March 1st for the next year, shooting begins the in early December and continues through the end of February. Small Bore Pistol (.22) shoots on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.

Hunting Project

Must be 4-H age 9 years old to participate.

Members learn skills that may be used while hunting for game in Montana. These skills include animal track, scat, and skull identification, map skills, GPS use, fire building, gun safety and many, many more.

Location: Flathead County Fairgrounds 4-H Building

Enroll in 4-H October 1st, request a time after March 1st for the next year, classes begin the begin in early December and continues through the end of February.

Hunting classes are on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.

Muzzle Loading Project

Must be 4-H age 12 years old to participate.

Muzzle Loading Guns, ammunition, ear plugs, and eye protection provided but you may bring your own.

Requires hunter’s safety and parents must be present.

Location: Lapp’s Shooting Range

Starts the second Sunday in March, the weekend after the Bozeman qualifications and goes through the last Sunday in April.

Wear warm clothing, it may be cold.

Shooting time is Sunday at 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
