Two of life’s important lessons applies to job searches and offers for employment that might not be valid or in your best interest:

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
                                                                             and
If it seems suspicious – trust your instincts and double check with a professional.

Scammers who pose as HR professionals or organizations hiring college students actively seek to steal your identity, banking credentials, or other sources of information that could harm your credit rating, reputation, and/or constitute fraud.

In other cases, individuals troll your social media to identify individuals who they seek to manipulate for images, videos, or experiences that are harmful.

If you receive a request for images or to meet in a location outside of a professional office, trust your Bobcat instincts and seek advice from the professionals in Career & Internship Services.

Just as important, if you see a job announcement, receive a request for information or an interview that seems too good to be true, please contact the professionals in Career & Internship Services.

We’ll help you understand if the communication/offer is valid and provide counsel on the steps to take to ensure your next job is the one you actually want!
