Agronomic Characteristics: |
Yield: Higher yeilding than Endeavor and Wintmalt. Plumps: Test weight and kernel plumpness are higher than checks. Appearance: Rough-awned, long rachilla hairs, white auricles, closed collars, pubescent leaf sheaves, and glaborous leaf blades. Disease Reaction: Excellent resistance to stripe rust and scald. Some tolerance to FHB in northeastern US. Resistant to peharvest sprouting. |
Malting Characteristics |
Lightning is in the AMBA Pilot testing propgram (2020 crop). Malting profiles equal to, or superior to, the endeavor ajd WEintmalt checks and aligns msot closely with the AMBA all-malt criteria. Lighting may show dormancy and/or water sensitivity - therefore, standard 4mL amd 8mL tests are recommended prior to initiating malting. Lighting will be more responsive in the malthouse if adjustments are made for water sensitivity. |
