Education, Health, and Human Development (EHHD), Center for Mental Health Research & Recovery (CMHRR) and Mark and Robin Jones College of Nursing (MRJCON) Internal Grant

Funding to encourage inter-college research development is being provided jointly by EHHD, CMHRR and MRJCON. The overarching goal of these funds is to help groups develop research ideas that will lead to collaborations across colleges within MSU. Research groups that include faculty or staff from at least one of the sponsoring colleges or CMHRR and at least one other college or center are eligible to apply. Funding of $1,000-3,000 may be used for team and project development costs. This may include travel, supplies, consultants, training, retreats, team building expenses, speaker and mentor fees, preliminary data collection, and other forms of support. Research areas may fall into the themes of health disparities, rural health, gerontology, children’s health and education, mental health, or other areas germane to the mission of our colleges.

Application

Proposals should be 1-2 pages in length and contain the following sections: research idea; potential research partners; potential funding targets (which may include additional internal funding from MSU’s new Research Collaborative Grant Program); budget; and timeline.

  • Deadline: rolling during AY 2023-24
  • Please submit your application to: [email protected]
  • Awardees will attend an EHHD or MRJCON fiscal training before funds can be spent.
  • Awardees must have attended (or plan to attend) OSP’s PI training.
  • The deadline for expending funds will be determined at the time of the award, usually within the current or next fiscal year.

Criteria for Evaluation:

  1. Potential for development of inter-college/center research teams within an area relevant to EHHD, CMHRR, and/or MRJCON.
  2. Potential for the funds to solidify a working group or research idea for further development.
  3. Qualities of the proposed research team.
  4. Utility of the expended funds to advance team and/or idea development.
