Ph.D. Research: My research uses on Precision Agriculture (PA) to improve management practices in organic grain farming. PA involves using cheap data collection from real farms, such as on-combine yield and protein monitor data, to maximize input efficiencies such as seed and nutrient requirements. This efficiency allows farmers to use fewer inputs, and maximize nutritional value, yield, and profit from their cash crops. Within this research area soil sampling is essential to found baseline soil fertility levels from which to create sound management decisions.
