Department of Education Monday Minutes

Here are your Monday Minutes for October 5-9, 2020.

From the Department Head

Dear Students, Staff, and Faculty,

On this day in 1947, Harry Truman, the 33rd President of the US, delivered the first televised presidential speech in the United States. President Truman called on Americans to use less grain to help Europe which was still reeling from the effects of the Second World War. He asked people to avoid eating meat on Tuesdays and eggs and poultry on Thursdays, and to consume 1 less slice of bread every day.

The 2020 general election is on November 3 and Montana State University encourages the community to exercise our civic duty! Make sure that you are registered to vote and visit the Montana Secretary of State’s election information page to become informed about candidates and ballot initiatives.

Take good care,

A Special Request from Field Placement & Licensure

Teacher Education Program instructors: As we head into the fall term, we have over 80 student teachers.  This is a healthy enrollment and we are looking forward to supporting each student during their semester.  I would like to ask you each to review the list of students, which is attached, and encourage you to reach out to former students.  During this time of uncertainty and potential fear of what lies ahead, I believe they would appreciate hearing from a friendly face.  I think they would each appreciate the support and connection, perhaps now more than ever.
Thanks in advance!    - John Melick
