Montana State University now offers a Special Education Teaching Certificate for Education students!
Is this certificate the right fit for you?
Yes, if you answer “yes” to the following:
- Are you an education student graduating in spring 2027 or later?
- Do you want to develop teaching skills that will help you better support all students, including those with disabilities?
- Are you interested in completing all required coursework right here at MSU in Bozeman?
That’s right—everything is available at MSU! - Do you want to complete the necessary coursework to qualify for Montana’s Special Education teaching license?
When can you begin taking classes?
It may be possible to fit this into your program if you plan on graduating in Spring 2027 or later.
Spring 2025 – Begin taking classes!
EDSP 458. EDSP 458 is only offered in the spring.
If you haven’t taken EDSP 306 (Exceptional Learners), we will allow a one-time entry
into EDSP 458 – taking 306 and 458 concurrently.
Please note, EDSP 458 is 4 credits.

The program is led by two highly experienced educators, Dr. Leslie Rogers and National Board-Certified Educator Mosey Hardin. Both bring extensive experience as special education teachers from across the United States and are excited to collaborate in offering exceptional learning experiences for MSU students.
