Crops & Livestock
Agriculture is one of the top industries in Broadwater County. According to the most
recent Ag Census, there are 287 farms and ranches in the county with the average size
being 1,661 acres. Broadwater County is a top producer of seed potatoes and alfalfa
hay production. There are also significant amounts of beef cattle, sheep, winter
wheat, spring wheat, forages and barley. Additionally, the county is home to a dairy,
forage seed company and sod farm.
MSU Extension programs apply university research and resources to help agriculture
producers and landowners increase profits, reduce loss, protect the food supply and
sustain future resources. The following services are available through the local
