MTJCEP Awards Description
Montana Joint Council of Extension Professionals –MTJCEP
Membership: All Extension personnel who are members of MACAA, MEAFCS, MAE4-HA, MACDEP, or ESP.
Any MJCEP member may submit nomination awards. Award nominations are due annually prior to Annual Conference around October 1. Nominations can be sent to Sharla Sackman at [email protected].
Silver Buffalo Award: Encourages and Recognizes excellence in the field of professional Extension work in Montana. Nominees shall have carried out to the point of excellence a program in one given field of work and/or a totally well rounded County or State Extension program. This program must have been recently completed or be currently in progress.
Eligibility: Be a member in good standing of MTJCEP, and worked as a Montana County Extension Agent or State Specialist. Longevity of employment with MSU extension is not a criterion for this award.
Nomination: Any MTJCEP member may nominate a candidate for this award. The nomination should include the nominee's name and project/program along with a description of the program (not to exceed 5 pages.) A Maximum of five supporting statements or letters of recognition should accompany the nomination. These can be from: Extension staff, clientele, commissioners, cooperating partners, associations, organizations, etc.
Anne Wiprud Memorial Award: Recognizes an Extension staff member with less than 10 years of experience for outstanding achievement and accomplishment in a special program or Extension project in which "people development" has occurred. Anne Wiprud Memorial is a memorial award in recognition of Extension Agent Anne Wiprud who was an agent in Teton County from 1971 - 1975, Agent in Cascade County 1976 - 1980, Teton County Agent 1981-1986. In 1986 she died in a tragic car accident.
Nomination: Any MTJCEP member may nominate a candidate for this award. The nomination should include the nominee's name and a description of the "people development" programs/activities/accomplishments (not to exceed 2 pages in length.)
Arrowhead Award: Recognizes an individual, firm, corporation or organization outside of MSU Extension who has assisted and contributed to Montana Extension programs.
Nomination: Any MTJCEP member may make a nomination for this award. A nominee must be a resident of Montana and be known by several staff members for their activities in support of Extension programming. The nomination should include a narrative description of the nominee’s contributions to MSU Extension Service (not to exceed 5 pages.)
