The course follows the Department of Energy’s standardized curriculum for Crew Leader and aligns with the NREL Job Task Analysis for Crew Leader.
Crew Leader training incorporates topics such as Role of the Crew Leader, Ongoing

Codes, Equipment Tracking and Maintenance, Warehousing, and Maintaining Quality Control.
The structure of the course includes lecture, dialogue, and practical demonstrations

for advanced Crew Members who have field experience and a basic understanding of the
weatherization program.

Organization of Course
This is a lecture-lab course. Lecture topics are presented in the classroom setting followed by hands-on practice in the lab. The class is appropriate for highly-experienced students who are managing other installers as a Crew Leader. Student participation in discussions in the classroom and in the lab exercises is very important. This course has a group final exam and student participation is graded as pass/fail.
Grading Criteria and Passing Score
The final exam is a group participation exam taken electronically. Group exams better engage students and allow students the opportunity to discuss questions and answers with each other and instructors.
