1. It takes time to check five different lots for available spaces.
a. Only Bobcat has five lots. Can use the shuttle to get from the far away lots to center of campus.
2. Handicap parking is moving further out?
a. Added 10 ADA spots in the parking garage.
b. More will be added when construction is finished.
c. Shuttles are ADA compliant and there are 31 ADA spots in the lots 20 and 25
3. If you need to leave and come back, 20 and 25 is too far. Is there a possibility that some spots could be reserved for faculty?
a. Not just a faculty problem. Students have the same problem.
b. No, we can’t reserve spots for faculty. The fees are how we fund the Parking and Transportation Services.
4. Does Parking handle bicycling issues also?
a. Yes.
b. Would like to add more covered bicycle parking.

b. Institute for National Security Research and Education (INSRE) proposal – first reading
i. Ann Marie Reinhold, Mark Sharpe, Ben Dalke
ii. Questions
1. Proposal seems mostly structural/organizational?
a. Enrich and build the internal capacity on campus. Strengthening from the inside.
b. Bring in support we need to manage the grants
2. What units are involved?
a. Mechanical Engineering, Milltech, Cyber Security, Photonics, Computer Engineering, etc. Would like to expand that. A lot of work to be done.
3. Hard to find space on campus to store sensitive data. Will this program have support for these short term, lower funded projects?
a. Yes, that is exactly it.
4. How broadly defined is “security”?
a. Security is defined broadly in INSRE – ranging from the cybersecurity efforts that we are leading in the SECL to food security to military strategy. I can provide more info as needed.
5. Where is this in the approval process?
a. Will go back to BOR after it is approved here.
6. Can we call for a vote now, or do we need to wait two weeks. Need to motion to suspend the rules.
iii. Kevin Amende moves to suspend the rules and vote today. Kevin McPhee seconds.
1. Not comfortable with suspending the rules.
2. We do have quorum.
3. 9 for suspending. 12 opposed. Motion does not pass. It will have second read at the next meeting.

1. Title change from Choir: University Chorus
2. Updating the title to this more specific name will facilitate registration by students into the correct ensembles.

1. Title changed from Choir II
a. Updating the title to this more specific name will facilitate registration by students into the correct ensembles.
b. Due to CCN, title will be Choir II: University Chorale. Waiting on reply before making changes.
iii. NUTR 401 : Nutrition Assessment/Counsel
1. Credit change from 3 credits lecture, to 2 credits lecture, 1 credit lab
2. As dietetics practice evolves into more hands on assessment and intervention strategies included but not limited to taking blood pressures, physical exams, and tube feeding placement it is imperative that students are provided ample opportunities to practice these skills outside of the classroom.
d. Course Inactivations – Second Reading
i. PSCI 414 : Drug Trafficking and Governance in the Americas
1. Per Political Science Department Heads Dr. David Parker and Dr. Eric Austin, PSCI 414: Drug Trafficking and Governance in the Americas will be removed from the major program and catalog due to a lack of need for this course in the current curriculum and available faculty to offer it.
2. Eric Austin noted that the faculty with the requisite expertise have retired and they cannot offer these courses anymore. They are also not required courses for the major.
ii. PSCI 415 : The Political Economy of Energy
1. Per Political Science Department Heads Dr. David Parker and Dr. Eric Austin, PSCI 415: The Political Economy of Energy will be removed from the major program and catalog due to a lack of need for this course in the current curriculum and available faculty to offer it.

i. BEID-BS : Bachelor of Science in Technology Education -Applied Technology Management
1. Title changed from Technology Education Industrial Technology Option
2. This title change is in keeping with our peer institutions with similar programs. We have found that our graduates struggle to get interviews because employers do not understand what our program is as we are still using an Antiquated name (industrial Technology). This old Title is a hold over from the 1960’s when technology education was called industrial arts.

2. The proposed name change from Materials Science to Materials Science and Engineering is motivated by a strong preference expressed by both students and faculty in the program, as well as a desire for the program name to more accurately represent the cross-college (CLS and NACOE) nature of the program's participants and curriculum.
VIII. Senators’ Open Conversation
a. (Tim McDermott) Faculty desperation/frustration on housing. Other university offers housing assistance. Long term loans. Median cost does not match starting salaries. Other universities are able to figure this out.
b. (Steve Stowers) Presidential search process. Email about the committee. 3 TT faculty on committee. 6 out 22 people on the committee are faculty and students. They are underrepresented. Commissioner appointed these people.
