Office of Financial Aid Services
***HIGH VOLUME CUSTOMER SERVICE ALERT ***
PEAK OFFICE VOLUME JULY - SEPTEMBER!
If you are trying to reach our office during our fall start-up you may encounter service delays either on the phone or in person. We apologize for any service inconvenience. The employees of Financial Aid Services are working hard to address your issues and process your paperwork in a timely manner.
Current FAFSA applications are up about 35% over the last two years and the economy continues to drive an increase in appeal volume from students and their families. Our office recommends that you contact our office by phone or in person if you have an immediate need. We appreciate your patience at this busy time and want to assure you that we are dedicated to serving your needs.
Help us help you by following these recommendations:
- Check your e-mail accounts frequently as all University communications will be sent via e-mail.
- Please explore your MyInfo account for the most current financial aid & billing information, and to keep your physical and e-mail addresses up to date.
- If you are anticipating a refund, refund checks are generated from the Student Accounts Office (MT Hall) just prior to the beginning of classes if all documentation requests have been satisfied and you have confirmed your bill (paid fees) with Student Accounts.
- If we have requested documentation from you, please submit copies with your name and MSU ID on the page(s).
- Please take a moment to explore the resources available to you from our homepage. Many of your financial aid questions can be answered from the Information Guide and from your MyInfo account.
Our phone lines will be answered in the order they are received from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM weekdays. Our walk-in service hours are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM weekdays. Please call us at 406-994-2845, or fax your documents to 406-994-6962. If you are dropping something off when our doors are closed, please use the drop box outside our doors. We are located in the the basement of the Strand Union Building, room 183.
We hope you have a successful year with us at MSU!
At Montana State University, we encourage students and families to make informed decisions about financial aid. We highly recommend that you borrow only the amount of loans you need to successfully complete your education.
