Alexander Salois - UIT - Research Cyberinfrastructure (RCI)

I am a third generation Bobcat. I graduated from MSU with my Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering in 2020 and am continuing on with my Master’s degree. I took the unique opportunity to work with RCI while I finish up my Master's that focuses on making High Performance Computing (HPC) easier for researchers. I also help researchers utilize the resources we have available such as our HPC clusters, Hyalite and Tempest, while making those resources more accessible. When I am not working on helping researchers get their research done faster, I am either enjoying the outdoors, taking pictures, or refereeing ice hockey.

Welcome Back!

 Beverly

Welcome back! We are starting a new year for All Staff Council (ASC), and we thought it would be helpful to update you on some council changes.

First, the council has added a Past Chair position to the Executive Board.  The Past Chair serves as an advisor and guide, providing expertise from their previous time on the council.

Second, each year we update the positions that we have open on the council, some by election and some by appointment. This allows council members to serve MSU in a variety of ways and provides council members experience participating on different committees. Council members have the option of participating on four internal committees and 15 external campus committees. The council also has two formal projects that members may volunteer to help plan and implement throughout the year.

The council transforms every year. With new life comes big changes. One of those is the departure our incredible Program Coordinator, Leslie Schroeder, for a new position at MSU. We are very sad to see Leslie leave. She has been an amazing support and resource for ASC. She devoted extra time to projects and paid specific attention to the important details. We could not have gotten this far as a shared staff governance without her. We will miss your dearly, Leslie!

Romney's 100th Birthday Bash - August 23, 2022

Join us for a blue and gold birthday bash in celebration of Romney Hall turning 100 years old. Enjoy a self-guided walking tour of the building, a hosted beverage, heavy appetizers and, of course, some birthday cake.

In 1922, Romney Hall was initially constructed to serve as Montana State University's physical education building. A century later, and Romney Hall has served as home to the national championship-winning Golden Bobcats, along with countless classes, sporting events, concerts and dances.

Romney's legacy and future maintains strong roots in its original purpose of serving the students of Montana State University. In 2022, Romney Hall can now boast an impressive renovation which brought the campus treasure from a space that housed 141 classroom seats to a LEED Gold certified building with over 1,000 classroom seats.

Registration is $15 and includes a hosted beverage, heavy appetizers and dessert. RSVP required by Tuesday, August 16.
