Dear Bobcat Parent and Family Members,Greetings from Montana Hall and the Office of the Registrar! With spring semester well on the way, I write to remind you of some upcoming opportunities for your Bobcat student. Priority registration for students begins on March 25th. All current students are granted priority registration allowing them first choice of classes before any new or transfer students are permitted to register. Students should be registered for summer and/or fall classes by April 10th. By registering during priority registrations, students are more likely to not only get the courses they need but also get the schedule they want. Please encourage your student to register early and have their next semester planned out by April 10th. Bobcat 4x4 is a summer school format designed to help your student catch up or get ahead in their progress toward a degree; it is a fast-paced yet immersive experience. Classes meet four days a week for four weeks with start dates in May, June and July. With 200+ classes spread across three sessions, students have the flexibility to spend a month or two in class and the rest of summer taking advantage of jobs or internships and enjoying summertime in Bozeman. Last summer was our first for implementing Bobcat 4x4. After the summer session ended, the Office of Planning and Analysis surveyed students and faculty to better understand their experiences. Some students noted the 4-week format allowed them to avoid the multi-tasking distractions inherent in a typical semester. Other students appreciated the opportunity to focus on one class at a time and "get it out of the way" while still having time to work and enjoy their summer. When you discuss priority registration and summer school opportunities with your student, please encourage them to visit with their academic advisor to prepare for priority registration and learn how the Bobcat 4x4 can advance their degree progression at Montana State University.
