PLACES Goals Include
- Advance knowledge of the variations in land and climate conditions that occur across
managed and natural landscapes.
- Explore economic and environmental benefits of this knowledge to the land and for
society.
- Develop and test agro-technology transfer strategies based on soil and climate resource
databases and geographic information system (GIS) technology.
- Apply field-scale GIS, terrain modeling, global positioning system (GPS), remote sensing,
and expert system technologies with soil and climate databases to soil-specific management
including "Precision Farming."
