Typically a funding agency will notify the Office of Sponsored Programs regarding its decision on a proposal. Occasionally, however, the Principal Investigator is contacted rather than the Office of Sponsored Programs. Please remember that the Office of Sponsored Programs handles contract negotiations.

If you receive an award announcement or contract, send the original award document to the Office of Sponsored Programs immediately. Many award agreements need to be negotiated due to budget adjustments proposed by the sponsor. All awards must be processed through the Office of Sponsored Programs before an award acceptance and subsequent account is opened through that office.
