Reopening South Seventh Avenue
Published Nov. 30, 2023
Dear MSU Community,
I am happy to announce that South Seventh Avenue from Grant Street to Kagy Boulevard will reopen by 5 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 1 to vehicles. The east sidewalk will be available for pedestrian use the entire length of the street. The west sidewalk will be available for pedestrian use during the week of Dec. 11.
Many thanks to all the students, faculty, staff and visitors for their patience while this important project was completed!
The project added an important branch to our underground steam and utility tunnel system that serves the campus. This new branch will provide heat and utilities to our South Campus District along South Seventh Avenue which will include Gianforte Hall and the future home of Gallatin College MSU. The value of our steam tunnel system, installed in the 1990s, in terms of energy and maintenance efficiency cannot be overstated.
I wish to add my thanks to all the staff of University Facilities Management, project management contractor McKinstry Construction, and general contractor Martel Construction who worked very hard to keep this project on time.
