Can the Griz 2024!
Published Nov. 14, 2024
Dear Bobcats,
Once again, we find ourselves at the beginning of the holiday season, and for Bobcats, that means it's time to Can the Griz!
For those who are new to campus or unfamiliar with this friendly competition, Can the Griz pits your university against the University of Montana to see which campus can collect the most donations for its local food bank. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the food drive.
The drive begins Nov. 9 and concludes at the end of the first quarter of the Brawl of the Wild football game between MSU and UM on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Bobcat Stadium. The winner will be announced then and on Can the Griz social media accounts.
Here are some ways to donate:
- Take nonperishable food donations to collection locations. A list of locations is at canthegriz.org/donation-drop-off-locations, and drop-off bins are at most of our local grocery stores.
- Garden produce can be taken to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank at 206 E. Griffin Drive.
- You can also drop off donations directly at the Gallatin Valley Food Bank from 8 a.m. to noon Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.
- Large donation drop-offs are welcome but must be arranged in advance by writing to food bank operations manager Jon Horn at [email protected].
- You can also make monetary donations at gallatinvalleyfoodbank.org/donate. Each dollar raised counts as a pound of food for the competition.
Other donation options are listed on the Can the Griz website. Please visit canthegriz.org or @msucanthegriz on Facebook and Instagram if you are interested in volunteering.
Can the Griz is a way for each of us to help our community during the holidays and a reminder of the importance of caring for our neighbors. Please join in the competition and help your university Can the Griz!
Sincerely,
Waded Cruzado
