Description of Request

Submitted By: ASMSU

ASMSU plays a pivotal role in student engagement and event organization, catering to the diverse needs of the student body. The organization hosts student-planned events and requires adequate storage space for supplies and materials essential for these activities. The current storage facility in the Strand Union Building (SUB) basement, has reached maximum capacity due to the organization's growth and expanding programs.

ASMSU recently acquired new production equipment necessitating secure storage facilities. With the impending relocation of Student Health Partners to the Wellness Center, a portion of the basement space in the Swingle Health Center will become available for reallocation. Following a thorough evaluation and tour of the available space, ASMSU students propose utilizing a portion of the Swingle Health Center basement to meet their growing storage needs. If granted the requested space, the organization intends to evaluate their current storage use within the SUB and will decide internally the best way to utilize both spaces, with special consideration given to the production equipment. If they decide to invest in security measures within Swingle, ASMSU will proceed with coordination efforts with Work Control for the installation of secure gates or fencing to safeguard the newly acquired production equipment. Regarding access, a key will be assigned to an advisory staff member within the Office of Student Engagement. This allocation will not only support the organization's activities, but also ensure the efficient utilization of available space within the building. The remaining space in the basement will be available for allocation to future occupants as per their needs.
