Description of Request

Submitted By: Alison Harmon, VP Research & Economic Development

Mike Veselik, the Director of Economic Development and Impact, is in need of a permanent office space. Currently, he occupies an office within the Research Alliance located in the library. However, the Research Alliance has recently initiated the search process for a new Research Development Specialist, who will require the office space presently utilized by Mr. Veselik. To accommodate the forthcoming hire and support operational efficiency, it is necessary to reassign Mr. Veselik to a suitable alternative location. Montana Hall 315 has been identified as a potential office space. This space was recently vacated by Campus Civil Rights and was previously used as a meeting room. Repurposing Montana Hall 315 from a meeting space to an office will represent a change in use, but it provides an ideal solution to meet Mr. Veselik’s space needs and is in alignment with space standards. The office’s central location in Montana Hall aligns with the strategic importance of Mr. Veselik’s role and ensures accessibility for his collaborations across campus. This proposed reassignment will address the immediate need for office space for both Mr. Veselik and the new Research Development Specialist, while also making efficient use of the Montana Hall space that has recently become available. Should space for an additional staff member be needed in the future this space is larger enough to allow for a second occupant within space standards.
