MSU students are welcome to join the Ambassador program during the Fall semester. The commitment is for two consecutive semesters; Fall and Spring of the same academic year.

Program Description

Students who join the Ambassador program are looking for a unique experience.They appreciate the contribution of each and every student at MSU including the range of perspectives and backgrounds that are represented on campus. These students learn to collaborate with and understand their peers from all perspectives and unique college experiences.

Ambassador Roles Include:

Support community building efforts at MSU through offering programs, meeting with prospective and current students, and engaging in activities that enhance the campus environment. Serve as crucial members of the team, acting as a resource for others in the Student Commons space and supporting the various student organizations in fulfilling their goals. 

Commitment:

Students in the Ambassador program are asked to volunteer five hours per week to be present in the Commons space. This time is designed for Ambassadors to meet and greet peers who are seeking support including the need for communnity. Ambassadors are offered several opportunities for personal and professional development according to their academic schedules and interest. 

Student Benefits & Rewards:

Ambassadors will receive a certificate of completion upon completion of all requirements and serving for two consecutive semesters (Fall & Spring). The benefits and rewards of being selected for the Ambassador program include gaining a greater understanding of the Institution while identifying and improving upon leadership skills.

Benefits also include opportunities to meet, interact and network with other students, faculty, administrators. Students may also elect to continue with leadership training and development. For example, opportunities to become a presenter or dialogue moderator in Discourse & Nuggets or Sustained Dialogue and/or present to first year seminar classes and other special group requests are available.

All students accepted into the Ambassador program are required to attend a brief orientation event at the begining of Fall semester.

  • Why are you interested in being an Ambassador for the Student Commons programs?  Be sure to include what you hope to contribute and what you hope to gain.
