Anna Schenfisch
Ph.D. Candidate, Mathematics
What is your academic history? I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in mathematics, as well as a B.M. in music performance (violin). I am currently in my second year as a Ph.D. student in mathematics at MSU.
What is your research focus? My research involves both computational topology and computational geometry. Currently, I am working on exploring shape reconstruction using various topological descriptors such as persistence diagrams or Euler characteristic curves.
What is/are your career aspiration(s)? After my time at MSU, I hope to spend some time in a post-doc position. I would love to stay in academia and continue research and teaching.
Why did you choose MSU for grad school? I was particularly attracted to the work going on in topological data analysis. I also felt that everyone I met at MSU was very welcoming, and I love the culture and environment of Bozeman.
What is one non-academic interest that you have? My favorite activities that are not directly math related include running, reading, and playing music.
