Calosoma sp.
Calosoma is a genus in the ground beetle family, Carabidae. It is a large genus with many species. Both the larva and adult are predaceous, feeding on caterpillars, earthworms, snails, and other insect larvae. There are more than 34,000 known species of beetle within the family Carabidae worldwide. Common habitats for ground beetles are under logs, under and on the bark of trees, sandy areas along the edges of ponds or rivers, and on and underneath rocks.
