Carabus sp.
Carabus is a genus in the ground beetle family, Carabidae. It is a huge genus with more than 900 species. Both the larva and adult are predaceous, feeding on caterpillars, earthworms, snails, and other insect larvae. Larvae are typically found underground while adults can be found foraging on the soil surface. It can take as long as one year to fully develop from larva to adult. Newly emerged adult beetles can live for another two to three years.
