Monochamus oregonensis
The Oregon fir sawyer, Monochamus scutellatus oregonensis, is a common long-horned beetle. The larva burrows into the cambium of pine and spruce trees and is typically found an elevation of about 6800 feet. One of this species' key identifiers is its white scutellum. Males fight one another over females while females fight one another for oviposition sites in dead or dying trees.
