Cylindromyia sp.
Tachinid flies are highly diverse, as this species demonstrates. The genus Cylindromyia has about 15 species. Adults of this genus can typically be found in open weedy areas visiting flowers throughout the summer. Members of the genus Cylindromyia generally have black abdomens with red on the sides. Coloration of these abdomens vary in terms of the amount of red from species to species. The larva is parasitic on other insects.
