Bombus probably occidentalis
Bombus occidentalis, or the western bumble bee is a common medium-sized bumble bee. The workers range from 9- to 15-mm long and have three main color variations. It is found in open grassy areas and mountain meadows. Its nests are usually underground. Populations of this species have dropped by more than 40% in the past 20 years, but still have one of the widest recorded ranges for known bumble bees in North America.
