Camponotus herculeanus
Camponotus herculeanus is a very common species found throughout the Northern Hemisphere. It typically builds large colonies underneath rotten logs or tree stumps. Colonies of C. herculeanus are susceptible to a number of parasitoids and are commonly preyed upon by the predatory fly species, Microdon piperi, in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
