We hope 2023 is off to good start for each of you! Below you will find numerous upcoming offerings to enrich your work life from the CFE and elsewhere on campus. Please take a moment to register for what you are interested in and mark your calendars.

We especially want to highlight the Faculty Symposium coming up on Tuesday, January 24 in Inspiration Hall. The lunch starts at 11:30 with presentations from noon to 1:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for you to learn innovative and impactful teaching strategies from your peers while enjoying an excellent lunch! We will discuss the article, “Moving Theory into Practice: A Reflection on Teaching a Large, Introductory Biology Course for Majors,” by Kimberly D. Tanner. In this short 10-page article, the author lays out what strategies have been successful for teaching a large 300 student class.

The Writing Center will be hosting a series of workshops to discuss working with writers through the academic writing process. Your graduate students are invited to participate as well. Intro to Academic Publishing Contracts & Negotiation Basics

The objective of this webinar is to give you an introduction to the structure and language of university press contracts, as well as equip you with tips and tools on how to navigate the negotiation process. Major points to be discussed, time permitting, include: grant of rights (Territory, Language, Type), advance and royalties, subsidiary rights, competing works, option clauses, copyright, termination, and rights reversion.
