Thank you for visiting the web space for our research group and my faculty activities here in the department of psychology at Montana State University.

We have an active research program that includes collaborative project with other lab at Montana State Univeristy and institution in our state. Our laboratory uses a variety of behavioral paradigms and traditional neuroscience techniques to study the effects of cerebral ischemia on the brain.

2017 Presidents Teaching Innovation Award

Prof. Babcock won the 2017 Teaching Innovation Award

2014 Pure Gold Recipient and Honorable Mention for President's Excellence in Teaching Award

Prof. Babcock was a 2014 Pure Gold recipient. He got a cool pin, plaque,picture with the University President and lots of funny emails from people on campus.

2013 CLS Outstanding Teaching Award

The 2013 College of Letters and Science Teaching award was awarded to Prof. Babcock.

Babcock receives Provost's Award

The 2011 Provost's Award for Undergraduate Research/Creativity Mentoring was awarded to Prof. Babcock.

MSU receives $6.5 million grant for health research partnerships with Montana tribes

The National Institutes of Health has awarded the five-year grant to fund the Center for Native
Health Partnerships at MSU. The funds will allow partnerships to be developed between Native American communities and researchers.

Research project opens doors for Old Elk

In a short time as a student at Montana State University, John Old Elk's work with some small animals has helped him make some big discoveries about brain chemistry and himself.

Researcher goes in search of memory's mystery

Scientists like Babcock, a professor of psychology at Montana State University, have taken the study of memory from the functional level of organs to the activation of cells in the hippocampus, which is the part of our brain most active when we are creating certain types of memories.
