Software Request
Welcome to the Software Request form. The questions in the form are explained in more detail under the drop-down. Answer them to the best of your ability - we will create a ticket, and we will send the form to your school's director for approval. Afterwards, CAA-IT will initiate the process of approval with Contracts and Procurement.
Name of the organization selling the product.
Name of the product.
Website of the product.
Description of what the product does.
Examples of other products used that serve the same purpose, or the lack thereof. If there are other examples, provide information on how this product has an edge over another currently in use by the university.
Give examples of how and when the product will be used. If it's for students, provide specific classes. If it's for staff or faculty, provide examples of how it will benefit the staff or faculty.
If the product stores personal information (PII), provide examples of what the product requires. Answer to the best of your ability.
Will users of the product be required to make an account to use the service? If so, is that account associated with the university or do users have to make their own accounts? Answer to the best of your ability.
Will the product require installation of server software onto a machine owned by MSU, or is that software providing the service owned by the corporation? Answer to the best of your ability.
If it is locally hosted, will it require agents to be installed on endpoint machines? Do ports need to be opened? How will it be accessed? Answer to the best of your ability.
If it is cloud hosted, will it require agents installed on endpoint machines? Do ports need to be opened? Answer to the best of your ability.
