The Center of Bilingual and Multicultural Education (CBME) at Montana State University was developed through grant funding on April 16, 1982.  The CBME has continued to thrive due to the years of research and community engagement, primarily with local Native American tribes and Native students, under its original developer and previous Director, Dr. Carjuzaa. The CBME continues its focus with new Director, Dr. Turk, on research, pedagogy, and communicty impact through bilingual and multicultural education highlighting the broad range of linguistic educational needs in Montana.

The goal of the CBME is to be a central educational resource for researchers, educators, students/faculty, and the community as a whole. The CBME is located on the fourth floor of Reid hall and is a part of the college of Education, Health, and Human Development (EHHD). Currently (Spring24), the fourth floor may be inaccessible due to an elevator outage, so we have provided an accessible space in Reid 140. This is the Satellite Space for the CBME and is open from 10:00-3:00 M-F. Feel free to pop in to say hello, use the free facilities, or just catch your breath. The CBME is a very inclusive and welcoming environment for all students and faculty.
