Welcome to the MontTELLs 2021 Conference!
Dear MontTELLs grant project participants, Instructional Coaches, and presenters,
Greetings from Bozeman. We are excited to be hosting our MontTELLs 2021 Inaugural Virtual Professional Development Conference March 19th and 20th via ZOOM.
We wish we could gather at MSU together to celebrate our grant successes and provide you with a face-to-face opportunity to network with colleagues. Since that is not possible at this time due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we hope you will join us for our virtual get together.
It is hard to believe that it was September 19, 2016 when Senator Tester’s office called to let us know that we had been awarded an Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) National Professional Development (NPD) grant. We are proud of all we have accomplished over the past five years and are happy to provide this opportunity for everyone in this grant project to reflect on the professional development you have participated in, review a model for encouraging family engagement, and continue our conversations around how best to identify and support our American Indian and other ELLs.
We have an exciting line up of speakers for you. Dr. Iris Pretty Paint will be talking about student persistence and introducing you to the Family Education Model. The Billings duo, Audra Waite and Jacie Jeffers, will share their collaborations integrating Indian Education for All (IEFA) and sheltered instructional strategies to meet the needs of ELLs. Sarah Pierce will be sharing the federal, state, and district underreporting of American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) students who identify as AI/AN and what services are available to them and other ELLs.
We’ll provide lots of opportunities to share in interactive breakout sessions. We’re also providing the opportunity to earn Renewal Units and win prizes. So, be sure to register asap. The registration deadline is Wednesday, March 17th. We look forward to ‘seeing’ you all soon.
Warm regards, Jioanna
