Since 2013, the International Programs division has hosted the Okinawa Global Leadership Program in coordination with the Okinawa Board of Education (BOE). For three weeks, groups of high school students from Okinawa, Japan are based at Montana State University for an intensive English and leadership training program.

This exciting program provides the students with an opportunity to improve their English skills; understand American culture; prepare for participation at academic conferences in English-speaking countries, including giving presentations in English; develop their leadership skills; build self-confidence; and facilitate cross-cultural dialogue and understanding.

The students will also get the chance to experience the local Bozeman community in the unique form of Homestays. Homestays place the students in the homes of community members and allow them to be immersed in American Culture.

During the program, Bozeman student ambassadors assist participants with homework, participate in various activities and share cultural experiences. In addition to classroom instruction, program participants will visit the world famous Museum of the Rockies and go to Yellowstone National Park, one of the world's most geologically diverse and famous natural landscapes.
