The name of the town could be spelled "Coal Strip"; coal for the power plants is strip-mined west of Colstrip. The Northern Cheyenne Reservation also has vast quantities of coal and mining this coal is controversial. Some Northern Cheyennes see mining the coal under their Reservation as a huge source of income; other Northern Cheyennes see mining the coal as desecration of their lands and oppose any form of desecration, especially strip mining.082 - Planning Mali Filming Trip for Northern Cheyenne Women084 - Passport photo of Stacy Bearcomsout085 - Passport photo of Sherri Ewing086 - Passport photo of Janelle Beartusk087 - Passport photo of Josette Woodenlegs088 - Pictures of family members089 - Mural in CDKC hallway090 - Michele Curlee, CDKC Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Florence Dunkel
