Welcome back to the 2023-24 School Year! NHD in MT is offering FREE PD opportunities made possible through a partnership with Humanities Montana
- You can earn 1 CEU/PD by registering and attending the entire session.
- We will email you the link to the PD once you register. There is a unique link to register for each PD.

- Tuesday, Sept 5th, 4:30-5:30pm: An Introduction to National History Day and Humanities Montana Programs for Middle and High School Teachers

- Tuesday, Oct 3rd, 4:30-5:30pm: An Introduction to National History Day and Humanities Montana Programs for Middle and High School Teachers (repeat of PD 1)

- Tuesday, Nov 7th, 4:30-5:30pm: NHDTopics, the Theme, and Research
Throughout this session, experts will model how to access digital archives, possibly including the Butte-Silver Bow Archives, the Montana Memory Project via the Montana History Portal, and the Museum of the Rockies Photo Archive Online. We will also review how to access national digital archives including Chronicling America, the Library of Congress, and the National Archives to support development of NHD projects. - Tuesday, Dec 5th, 4:30-5:30pm: Developing Projects
During this PD session, learn what is expected for the five NHD project categories: documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, and website. This is a second opportunity to join NHD alum, historians and other experts to receive feedback on student projects as students make revisions preparing for the state competition. Teachers will also review the category evaluations and review the judging process, so that they are prepared for the NHD in MT State Competition.
