The University encourages the safe and courteous use of PTDs, which are an efficient, enjoyable and sustainable alternative transportation mode in and around campus. The policy was developed to set forth the regulations that govern the use of PTDs and promote their safe operation on campus.

In addition to University-specific rules, all state and local laws pertaining to bicycles and personal transportation devices (PTD) will be enforced on campus. 

University-specific rule of transit are as follow:

  • PTD operators must yield to pedestrian at all times. 
  • PTD operators must yield to emergency personnel and vehicles at all times.
  • PTDs may not be operated in or into any university buildings, but may be walked or carried into specifically designated PTD parking locations. 
  • PTD speeds must not travel at speeds that create a hazard to any person or property. 
  • PTDS must be parked in parking areas specifically provided for PTDs. Learn more by visting: PTD Parking Info
  • PTD operators must observe all administrative closures. 
  • Any PTD considered abandoned, stolen, or improperly parking or stored may be impounded at the owner's expense. Missing a bike or PTD? Visit Missing Bike?
  • PTDs available for rent by an outside vendor (Bird Scooters) must be parked in designated areas. 
  • The university is not responsible for any incidental damages that may occur to a PTD or locks during the impoundment process.
