Exempt Application Now Open
OCT 7, 2022. We are pleased to announce that the Exempt application form is now open in TOPAZ.
TOPAZ is the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) protocol management software that handles protocol applications, amendments, committee reviews, and auto-email communications. See our TOPAZ webpage for login, User Guides, and FAQs.
All IRB protocol activity at any review level (Exempt, Expedited, Full Committee Review) will now take place in TOPAZ.
A few tips to get started:
- Use Chrome browser for best performance.
- Add [email protected] to your safe sender or contact list so that notifications go to your Outlook Focused Inbox.
- SAVE your work after you complete each section.
- Can’t login or need additional privileges? Request to be added to the system.
- Who can be a Principal Investigator for IRB?
- Students can be the PI on Exempt level applications and should fill out the form themselves.
- Students cannot be the PI on an Expedited or FCR level application – a faculty advisor must hold primary PI responsibility.
- The PI on any protocol must submit the initial application. Subsequent modifications may be submitted by a designated co-investigator or other lead.
- To submit an Amendment to an existing Exempt protocol: Contact us to request migration. You will receive a Topaz-generated email once your existing protocol has been relocated. From there, you can submit your Amendment via TOPAZ.
