The MSU Writing Center offers ongoing support to students working on graduate-level writing in the following ways:

One-on-one Appointments

One-on-one appointments with tutors are available online or face-to-face. Graduate students may make appointments with graduate or undergraduate peer tutors. You can schedule a 45 or 90 minute appointment here.

Interdisciplinary Graduate Writing Groups

A small group of graduate students who meet regularly to work on improving their own writing and give feedback to others. The goal of a writing group is to create a community of graduate students who engage intellectually with one another on drafts. Writing groups are supportive, collaborative, non-evaluative spaces. If you are interested in joining a writing group, please complete this registration form. You will be contacted by email to set up an initial group meeting.

Focus Fridays

A weekly “write with us” time for grad students and faculty to work alongside each other. Hosted in the Wilson Hall 1-114 Writing Center on Fridays from 9 am-12 pm. Tutors are available to answer questions.

Formatting Guidelines

Do you have questions about formatting your Electronic Thesis or Dissertation (ETD)? While Writing Center tutors are happy to try and help you work through formatting issues, you will be able to get more specific, definite answers from the Formatting Advisor ([email protected]) in the Graduate School. Templates, sample pages, video tutorials, and submission procedures can be found on the Graduate School's website.

Workshops & Events

Looking for other ways to work on your writing? What about a science writing workshop or a writing retreat? See “Workshops and Events” for more information or contact Erin Strickland, at [email protected] or (406) 994-5314.

My writing experience consists of working with data and communicating complex ideas to a general audience. I look forward to working with you!
