The 2025 Science Olympiad state tournament was a success!
The MSU Science Math Resource Center hosted the 41st Annual Science Olympiad State
Tournament at the MSU-Bozeman campus on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Nearly 900 middle
and high school students from 70+ teams across Montana participated.
Congratulations to our 2025 state champions! Corvallis Middle School (Division B) and Hamilton High School (Division C) will
represent Montana at the national tournament at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln

Founded in 1984, the Science Olympiad is the premier team STEM competition in the
nation, providing standards-based challengesto middle and high school teams. Would your STEM educators, school administrator,

Educators: Apply for a free World Quantum Day activity kit
World Quantum Day is an international event held on April 14 to generate interest in quantum science. This year, 2025, has also been designated by UNESCO as the International Year of Quantum. To help Montana educators celebrate, we are giving away 40 free World Quantum Day educators' kits. Activities are designed for grades 6-12. Apply by March 16, 2025.
Scientists have used quantum mechanics to create technologies ranging from those we use every day - such as the chips in smartphones and microwave ovens - to cutting edge emerging technologies that have the potential to change our world! You can learn more about what Quantum is on this page, but no educator experience in quantum is required to be eligible for a kit.
The implementation of activities in these kits are also designated as a QuanTime events through the National Q-12 Education Partnership.
Come visit the STEM Lending Library: All are welcome
The Science Math Resource Center's STEM Lending Library is filled with books, kits and hands-on resources for use in educational outreach. MSU students, staff and faculty and in-service educators can check out materials. The SMRC staff is happy to make recommendations of appropriate resources for age groups and situations.
We alsowelcome inquiries and new projects from researchers who wish to create and disseminate educational resources for broader impacts and outreach.
