An introduction to Universal Design for Learning.We will cover the main principles of UDL and start a conversation about you might apply UDL in your courses.There will be subsequent workshops on specific aspects of Universal Design for Learning.

The Center for Faculty Excellence is delighted to announce that the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE) of the Montana University System (MUS) is accepting applications for this year's Teaching Scholars program. The theme this year is generative AI in higher education. OCHE has created a website that describes the goals of the MUS Teaching Scholars program.

Another Piece of the Puzzle: Using the Jigsaw Teaching and Learning Strategy to Enhance Groupwork Opportunities

In this workshop, you will learn about the Jigsaw active cooperative learning strategy that can promote interdependence  amongst student group members and prompt students to synthesize different parts, ideas and perspectives of the content you are teaching them. After learning about what this strategy is, we will conduct a modelled Jigsaw around key areas of designing and managing group work and apply them to common scenarios that arise when students work in groups.

This workshop will introduce you to the art and science of prompt engineering, empowering you to craft prompts that elicit impactful and tailored responses from AI systems. In this session, we will experiment and learn together as we work through sample prompts and best practices for using generative computing systems like ChatGPT, Bard, and Claude.
