Economic Development and Quantum
In recent years, the United States Government has made a concerted effort to drive industrial and technology policy to advance sectors deemed critical for America to retain its economic and national security edge. The federal government has identified the quantum industry as a sector of national interest.
The quantum industry requires the research initiatives led by Montana State University and the infrastructure and workforce to support the creation of an industry. Luckily, Montana State University has a proven track record performing cutting edge research and supporting the work to develop an industry. The prime example from Montana State is the photonics industry, which is directly related to the quantum sector.
The University is leveraging its expertise and experience supporting the photonics sector to assist in sector development of a quantum industry. Montana State faculty, staff, and students are actively working to identify opportunities for the University to participate in economic development efforts related to the quantum industry.
